Can Christians Make a Difference?

You may have been seeing an Arabic-looking symbol around cyberspace these last few days and weeks. I took this from Vox Cantoris.

Many Christians are using this symbol as their Facebook profile picture, for instance, like my friend, Deborah, from Foolishness to the World.

Why would they do such a thing? This symbol corresponds to the letter 'n.' Islamists refer to Christians as Nazarenes, understandably. And, the extremists in the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Syria are forcing Christians to wear them, much like the Nazis forced Jews to wear the yellow Star of David.

My question is, will this act of solidarity do anything to make a difference for persecuted Christians? I pray it will.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices;
    my body also rests secure.
 For you do not give me up to Sheol,
    or let your faithful one see the Pit.
 You show me the path of life.
    In your presence there is fullness of joy;
    in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

(Ps 16:9-11)
