Yes. Don't be boastful as a lector that you are sooooo important. Your job, instituted or commissioned, is to proclaim the Scripture to the laity, by preparing ahead of time, knowing how they connect, and if needed, what gets a little more emphasis by asking Fr what the homily about as he might take a line of Scripture as his focal point. No Virginia, it is not time for people to bask in your glory and for you to look Important. Remember, lectoring is a privilege given by the Church to laity post-Vatican II, not a right, and most of all, was originally a duty and a minor order for men in the Church, as they journeyed in their vocation to the priesthood. Be thankful but don't take your position lightly.
